This site is dedicated to the people involved with the B-29 aircraft - those who built them, fixed them, and flew them. But I'll focus mainly on aircraft number 44-69729 (T "Square" 54), the aircraft we restored at Lowry AFB.

This site is not only for the friends who rebuilt this Superfortress, whether young, old, civilian, or active duty, but also for the WWII vets who had maintained her and flown her in harm's way and 40 years later showed us how to put her back together again. All of us, the crew affectionately called "Mel's Misfits!"

All black & white photos were copies from the Lowry AFB Heritage Museum photo archives, as were the color photos taken at China Lake. Most of the color photos of the assembly were taken by Tom Mathewson, while the rest are copies from fellow co-workers' photos. The last photo, at Seattle, was taken by the Museum of Flight, her latest "chaperone."
