Out of the archives, I have dusted off the actual game and grabbed some screen shots for you!
The setup screen for the game shows that you can customize the size of the maze in each of 3 dimensions
This (static) image shows the game configured as a conventional 2D maze (i.e., it has a height of 1)
For the mentally challenged, you can even configure the game as a 1-D maze!  In fact, you could even configure it as 0-D (1x1x1), so the hardest part would be figuring out whether the exit is in front of you, behind you, above, below, to the left, or to the right.
This is the PoV generated 'artists conception' of the maze

This is an early screenshot of the new unix version of 3-D Maze. It's coming along rather well, with a much larger maze capacity, much faster graphics (if you have a 3D-accelerated card), and smoother animation.
