In Conquest Born
Author: C.S. Friedman
Year: 1987
Abstract:
Two empires, Braxi and Azea, are at war. There war ranges throughout the cosmos, and is only broken sporadically by
token 'peace' agreements that never last. Both of the empires' peoples have been genetically engineered. Braxi, for
battle. Azea, for the powers of the mind. Anzha Lyu Mitethe, a young girl with an extraordinarily powerul mind, watches her
parents die a horrible death at the hands of a Braxi assassin. In her quest for revenge, she nearly destroys both empires.

Spectre's Review
You can't really get too much more black and white with this book. You'll enjoy the stark difference between Braxi and
Azea. One thing I really like about this one is these two societies have been at war for a very long time. When the peace
treaty is broken near the beginning of the book, it was something like the 984th comprehensive peace treaty. Their
civilizations are bred for warfare. As usual, Friedman portrays a delightfully complex universe. It's very easy to lose
track of time with this one. The plotline was a touch weak, and the story progressed quite slowly at times, but it was
still a very engaging book.
