Mission of the Foundation

The Utah Autism Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to identify and support research on both a local and national level into the cause, prevention, and potential treatment of autism.

The foundation was started by David R. Spafford and his wife Susan, after their son Joey was diagnosed with autism, a severe cognitive disorder that affects approximately one out of every 166 children in the United States.

The Utah Autism Foundation is dedicated to giving researchers the resources they need to discover the definitive causes of autism and give hope to children and families coping with this little-understood condition.

The hope for real progress in treatment of autism lies in research to discover the basic causes.
