You enter the woodsmith's tent.
Kirany peers up at the display, standing on her tip-toes. "Oh, there's
ones with Smalls on them! Or maybe they're not, maybe they're grown-up
firelizards." She plants a kiss on the blue's head again. "Not like
you."
Ursa wanders in, having finished chatting with a friend from Benden.
"Find anything?" she calls to Fiona as she strolls in.
Pagel grins. "I am too, generally. I've been in here, looking for ideas
many times. I think we do have some in a bin in the back, but if you
want something in particular, we could have it made."
Fiona waves Ursa over to the button display, "Just look at all these!"
She turns back to flipping through the choices, "I think I'll be back
here often once my customers see these."
Woodsmith tent
This is a large, airy tent well lit by glows in special lanterns.
Cabinets and tables hold various items for sale. Boxes of every shape
and size are on display, with other 'curiousities'. Various 'goblets'
are also scattered throughout the tent, displayed to their best
advantage. A section of one tent wall is hung with strings
of 'buttons'
Contents:
So many buttons! No doubt the product of classes in detail carving, they
are arranged in sets, carefully tied on string to keep them sorted.
The 'firelizard buttons' and 'shipfish buttons' are so cute they can't
help but catch your eye. The 'flower buttons' and 'fellis leaf
buttons' are more sedate. There are also set of buttons with the
device of most of the larger Holds and Halls. If you don't see the
device you are looking for, just ask someone. You may be able to find
them in the small chest of loose buttons they keep in the back.
Kirany asks idly, her finger stuck thoughtfully in her mouth, "Whozer
customers?"
Ursa blinks and looks at all the buttons. "Wow." she leans over to look
some more, then elaborates, "Wow."
Fiona hrms as she admires one with roses carved on the top, "My
customers? Well, I've lots of them. I'm a weaver, y'see." She points
to her knot to prove it.
Kirany looks surprisedly up at Fiona. "Oh! So you.. weave. Maybe you
made this?" She proudly shows off her ... well, rather threadbare,
dirty and old looking tunic. "It's nice. Was my brothers."
Ursa finds herself fingering some buttons, not very fancy buttons, but a
lovely grain of wood. "These are nice..."
Fiona turns to examine the tunic, then hides a smile, "Uhm... actually,
I do more spinning that weaving." She doesn't add that the tunic looks
as though it was made before she was born. "It's very nice indeed."
Pagel grins, but feels sorry for whoever else fascinates Kirany.
Pagel says "Um, if there are any buttons that you might be looking for,
there is a small chest in back I could get."
Kirany beams at the weaver. "Thanks! It's my favorite." Never mind that
she only has three to start with. If this is her favorite, who *knows*
what the others look like. "There's more buttons?" Her question echos
Pagel. "Neat."
Ursa fingers the simple ones again, turning to Fiona, "Would I be silly
to buy these now in case I ever get soemthing nice enough to sew 'em
on to?"
Pagel nods. Let me go back and get the chest."
Fiona turns abruptly to Pagel, giving him an apologetic smile, "Sorry, I
get easily distracted sometime. Yes, I'm looking for ones with craft
symbols on them. Like the beasthall for one." She shakes her head at
Ursa, "Not at all. I might even make you something up just for hauling
me around Pern and saving me from those butons I found in that tunnel."
Pagel walks over to the back of the tent, and pulls out a chest full of
buttons, of various shapes and sizeds.
Kirany pipes up, "Tunnels are fun. I made a Fort in a tunnel once." She
joins Pagel at the back as he brings out a chest. "Wow. Wow. I've
never seen so many."
Pagel says "Well, let's see, I think there might be one in here..." He
rummages around, looking rather sheepish. "I'm actually kinda new
here."
Pagel says "Um, if we don't have one, I could probably carve one up for
you."
Fiona beams a smile at Pagel, "You're doing quite well helping us out,
and that would be wonderful. To carve them up special, I mean."
Kirany peers over at the rack of firelizard buttons. "Hrm. I wunner if
my da' would get me a button." She sighs, and fingers the firelizard
she's holding, giving him a fond little smile. "Nah. We don'ts have
lots of credits anyway, and now I have a *real* small!" Her gaze
lingers on the buttons, and she takes a seat on the floor of the tent
to watch.
Pagel grins happily. "Thanks! I can really start work on them right
away."
Ursa smiles slowly at Fiona's off-hand comment about making her
soemthing. "S'long as it's not something I'll trip over." And she
turns her attention back to the buttons, counting out an appropriate
number.
Pagel suddenly thinks of something. "Um, I suppose I better ask how many
you need, and what size."
Kirany leans back against a tent-post, gently rubbing the firelizard's
hide as she watches the grownups talking. "Hrm. I still have to name
this little guy," she says musingly to herself. "I wunner when he'll
grow big enough to fly."
Fiona grins at Pagel, "Hmm, yes. Good thing you remembered cause I'd
have clean forgot." She whips a list from her pocket. "I have
measurements here. Uhm... Six for the front of the shirt, plus two
extra forthe cuffs. Standard sized, I guess."
Kirany comments innocently, "Heavy shirt."
Pagel nods. "Ok. So eight buttons of about average size, with the
beasthold mark on them."
Ursa scoops up her buttons, wandering over to Fiona. "So you're doing
this rather than onyx buttons?"
Pagel asks, "Do you have any preference of wood?"
Kirany gives Ursa a vaguely envious, yet more curious look. That lady
must be *rich* to afford a handful of buttons.
Fiona grins at the girl, "You think? The silly man wanted onyx buttons
on it originally, but I think this will look better." She nods to
Pagel, "That's right, but the two cuff ones would be much smaller."
Turning to Ursa, she continues, "Well, maybe I'll get those too, but
this seems so much neater."
Fiona gives Pagel a blank look. "Type of wood? I really have no idea.
Something that'll look nice with black?"
Pagel grins. "Ok, a dark wood then."
Kirany comments vagely, "Or a reddish one. Red looks good with black.
Not so brown though, or it'll blend in." She just keeps her eyes on
her firelizard as she talks, rubbing a dry spot on its head.
Fiona nods, "I'll leave that to your expertise." Looking over at Ursa,
she asks, "Found some you like?"
Ursa nods, opening her fist to show a lil collection. "They're real
simple, but I like the grain..."
Pagel looks at Kirany. "Hm. I didn't think of that..."
Fiona glances curiously at Kirany, noting her comments, "You seem to
have good opinions on color. Are you apprenticed yet?"
Peering out from behind a mop of unruly brown hair, this young girl
seems fairly attractive, when her locks aren't completely obscuring
her features. Standing at only around 4'5, she certainly isn't much to
comment on, her slight stature making her easily missed. Her grey-blue
eyes are constantly moving, watchfully scanning her surroundings in
what some might call a nervous manner, and overall she seems a quiet
sort. She looks to be around 10 or 11 turns old. Kira wears a dark
pair of wherhide pants, though the knees are so worn out they look
ready to give at any moment. A soft green tunic tops the outfit,
falling loosely down her slender arms. It too looks worse for wear,
but she doesn't seem to notice the frayed seams.
Kirany nods emphatically at Pagel. "Depends on the guy, I guess. Where's
this guy from? Maybe something whiteish, with a trim around..." She
blinks at Fiona's question, her hair whipping around as she shakes her
head emphatically. "Me? Noooo. I came here with m'da."
Fiona forgets about buttons for a moment as she gives the girl an
apraising look, "Well now. Who's your da?" She gets that recruiting
look about her.
Kirany adds informatively, "I'm only ten." She pauses, then adds
meaningfully, "Almost eleven, though. That's older." She gives Fiona
an odd look, pursing her lips. "He's Kirek. He's around here
somewhere." She sighs, waving a hand vaguely. "Somewhere talking to
some Master Wood..personthing."
Fiona nods thoughtfully and says almost to herself, "That's a little
young, but there's enough fosterlings at the Hall..." Raising her
voice a bit, she goes on, "Well, if you think you'd be interested and
your da would let you, I think you should consider apprenticing at the
weaverhall. It's a loways away, though, I'm afraid."
Kirany bites her lip, lookin uncertain. "Where is it? I've never been
farther than this. My da said though that now I'm old enough to come
with him on his little trips here. What do apprentices do there?"
Kirany as usual, comes up with a handful of questions.
Fiona settles into answering mode. She's used to this by now, "The
weaverhall is in South Boll where it's nice and warm, and weavers do
all sorts of fun things with dyes and making clothes and stuff."
Kirany wrinkles her nose. "Like.... *sewing*?"
Ursa winds up taptapping her foot. "You gonna go through all that
again?" she drawls.
Pagel looks to Ursa. "If you want, I can help you with the buttons that
you're interested in while our young friend is drafted"
Fiona nods, "Well, that's one thing we do, yes." She glances over at
Ursa, then sighs, "You're right, I won't bore you." Turning back to
Kirany, she says, "I have to go, but if you're interested, just talk
to the watchdragon at whatever hold or hall you're at and they can get
a message to the weaverhall." She pauses, "er, or have your father do it."
Ursa nods to Pagel, opening her fist again, "How much for these?"
Pagel looks down. "The price is generally 1/4th mark per button."
Ursa reaches for her bag, then curses softly, "Shells, left it out
there... Didn't expect to be spending tonight."
Fiona turns to Ursa while the girl thinks her offer over, "Need me to go
get it?" She heads out without waiting for an answer.
Fiona leaves the tent, the doorflap falling closed behind them.
Spineth> Fiona enters from the Woodsmith's tent.
Spineth> Fiona has arrived.
Pagel looks down at Kirany, a thought occuring to him. "Do you have any
ointment for your little fellow there when he starts to molt?"
Kirany gives Pagel a blank look. "Ointment?"
Pagel says "Yeah, to rub on his hide. See, they outgrow thier skins, and
that's kinda painful. The ointment helps."
Kirany scratches at another dry-looking spot on her little blue. "Um. He
is looking a little itchy. What do I put on him?"
Spineth> Fiona heads for the dragon, giving him a warning, "Hullo
Spineth. Ursa wants me to get her money ouch for her."
Ursa taps her toe again absently while waiting for Fiona, recounting her
buttons.
Pagel scratches his head. "Well, I've got some in my room I can loan
you. I'll just have Mephist fly out and get it."
Kirany giggles softly, but the sound is coloured by her concern for the
little fellow. "Oh. Kinda like me when I was five. Nothing fitted
anymore." She frowns, looking closely at the firelizard's hide. "Do
you have some... ointment?"
Spineth> Spineth regards Fiona with calm eyes, ducking down helpfully.
Mephist preens quickly, then flits off to get some ointment.
Spineth> Malia watches idle, scritching the bronze firelizard that has
landed on her shoulder.
Mephist leaves the tent, the doorflap falling closed behind them.
Spineth> Fiona climbs halfway up the side, clinging to the straps
precariously as she digs around in a pack for the pouch.
Ursa's toe stops tapping as she stares unseeingly off at a far wall.
Kirany glances up at the brownrider curiously, then giggles and mutters
to herself. "Looks like sh's fallen asleep standing up..."
Pagel is starting to wonder about where Fiona walked off to.
Mephist enters the tent from without.
Spineth> Spineth turns his overlarge head around to regard the weaver
curiously, his sudden movement causing the straps to tug awkwardly
upwards.
Mephist is carrying a small vial of ointment in his claws, which he
deposits in Pagel's hand before returning to his shoulder.
Ursa half hears the comment about herself and laughs, a very foolish
look on her face. "Oh dear." She shifts the buttons from hand to hand.
Mephist leaves the tent, the doorflap falling closed behind them.
Pagel smiles as Mephist flies over and lands on his shoulder.
Spineth> Fiona stretches out to reach the bag just dangling out of
reach. As Spineth moves, her foot slips in it's spot in the harness
and she goes tumbling to the ground. Landing with a loud *thud* she
gazes up in surprise at the stars, trying to suck air back into her lungs.
Pagel looks at the bottle in his hand. "Hm. Why am I not surprised he
grabbed the one he doesn't like."
Ursa suddenly drops the buttons, the lil things landing with a clatter
on the ground. "Shells!" she curses and dashes out.
You leave the tent, and the warm scent of wood.
Malia jumps forward, rushing to the young woman's side and dropping to
her knees beside her "Are you ok?" she asks anxiously.
Ursa dashes out. "Hey! You ok?" she echoes.
Kirany enters from the Woodsmith's tent.
Spineth rumbles quietly, his head resting on the ground to regard the
weaver with concern.
Pagel enters from the Woodsmith's tent.
Fiona gasps several times, managing to get out an "Urk" in response. She
tries to sit up, but falls back. After a moment, she says, "Wow. That
was a long way up."
Spineth> Vidarth senses that Spineth 's voice is faint with distance.
<> It is obvious from his calm tone that
his Rider isn't hurt.
Pagel's jaw drops open, and he looks rather like a fish caught out of
water.
Kirany comes barreling out of the tent, glee on her face as she chases
after the rider in search of adventure. As she sees the weaver though,
she stops dead in her tracks. "Oh. You okay?" She cocks her head to
one side, hair flopping in front of her face as she fixes a concerned
look on Fiona.
Malia looks over the weaver and asks "Does it hurt anywhere?"
Ursa kneels by her friend, "Yeah it's a long ways. Are you hurt? Can you
get up?"
Fiona tries that sitting up thing again, this time managing to move
mostly upright against Spineth's leg. Drawing in several deep breaths,
she nods slowly, "I think I just got the wind knocked out of me. Give
me a hand up, Ursa?"
Kirany takes a few tentative steps forward, not wanting to get in the
way. "Um," she says giftedly, shifting feet. "Should I run and get
help?"
Dragon> Vidarth bespoke Spineth with << What sort of trouble, Spineth?
>>
Malia sits back on her heels watching with concern.
Ursa immediately offers the hand. "You sure you're okay?"
Spineth> I bespoke Vidarth with << Her friend is hurt. She can't stand.
>>
Fiona takes Ursa's arm and swings herself up. With a cry of pain, she
keeps going and lands on he rrear again. This time more slowly. "Maybe
not. I think I hurt my ankle." Looking at her leg and the funny way
it's bent, she gasps, "Yup. Defnitly."
Pagel shakes his head. He's seen animals with legs like that, but it
looks even worse on a human.
Kirany pales at the look of Fiona's leg. It's just not supposed to
*bend* that way. "Um. Oh. Do you need a Healer? Is there a Healer?"
She looks questioning at the nice lady she talked to before, Malia. "I
can run and get one... if I know where."
Malia lifts her hands helplessly "We don't have a healer here" she says
quietly...
Ursa yelps. "Oh, shells. Hang on. Don't stand up again." Like Fiona
would...
Dragon> Vidarth bespoke Spineth with << My rider says we come. Where are
you? >>
Spineth> Vidarth senses that Spineth sends a clear mental image of the
woodcraft Hall.
Fiona sits quietly, taking shallow breaths now that she's aware of that
nice lil pain in her leg. "Don't worry, I"m not moving." Looking up at
the others, she takes in Malia's knot and groans softly in
embarrassment. She echos Ursa, "Oh shells..."
Kirany bites her lip, apparently not knowing what else to do. She moves
closer to the Weaver, sitting gingerly down beside her. Her voice is a
whisper, as though Fiona were something so delicate she might break if
she spoke at a normal level. "Does it hurt much?"
Ursa turns to the CraftMaster, saying,a lil shyly, "Some one's on his
way..."
Malia looks in some surprise at the rider, but then nods with a faint
smile.
Dragon> Vidarth bespoke Spineth with << How serious does your rider say
her injury is? >>
Fiona manages a smile for Kirany's benefit, "Naw, it's not so bad." She
bites her lip, though, unable to say much more.
Spineth> I bespoke Vidarth with << Her leg is.. wrong. >>
Spineth> I bespoke Vidarth with << My Rider says its broken. >>
Vidarth wings down from above.
R'val slides down from Vidarth's back and lands in a crouch.
R'val jumps to his feet, frowning worriedly, "Ursa?"
Pagel lo
Ursa looks utterly relieved. "R'val! It's Fiona..."
Pagel looks confused. He doesn't even know where some numbweed might be.
R'val moves forward to Ursa, "What is it? Spineth said your friend is
hurt?"
Fiona gives R'val a lil wave from her spot propped against Spineth, her
face pale in the moonlight.
R'val kneels at Fioana's side and touches her shoulder, "Fiona? Tell me
what happened.'
Ursa nods quickly,g esturing to Fiona again. "Aye... I didn't know what
to do... Sorry..." her words are sorta tumbling out, "I knew you could
help her..."
R'val smiles at Ursa calmingly, "Don't worry. I know what to do, I
brought my supplies and such..."
Spineth rumbles at Fiona, regarding her mournfully with those huge eyes
of his, his chin resting on the ground.
Fiona points to her funnily bent right leg and says simply, "It hurts."
R'val frowns, and feels at the leg gently, probingly, "Tell me when it
hurts.'
Ursa leans against Spineth, arms crossed over her chest. She is doing
her best to look calm, but she nibbles nervously on her lip, the
gesture betraying her facade.
Fiona sucks in her breath as his hand touches her boot. She waves
vaguely, "Somewhere under there."
Kirany pouts at the unfamiliar rider, "It' hurts when you touch it,
silly! Anyone can see that. It's all bent wrong!"
R'val nods to Kirany patiently and smiles< "But I need to nknow where.
And now I do.' He turns back to Fiona and smiles comfortingly, "Ok. I
think it's broken. WE'll have to get this boot off you to set it."
Fiona gives him a wide eyed look and babbles, "But these are my best
purple boots, and how are you going to get it off without killing me
or ruining them?" She slides away just a bit.
Ursa's toe starts tapping nervously but she stills it. Calm. She says
hoarsely, "Tell me how I can help."
R'val smiles at Ursa, 'You can get my satchel, over there, on
Vidarth..and remove some wooden splints. WE'll have to splint the
leg." He turns back to Fiona and replies, "Very, very carefully. Do as
I say please, and stay still..."
Fiona nods, though she continues babbling, "Alright. But you aren't
going to slap me are you? Tiss got bit by a crawly thing once and
Laywne had to slap me cause I couldn't shut up cause I was scared.
Sorta like now.." she pauses to take a breath.
R'val grips Fiona's chin gently and smiles, leaning close, murmuring,
'Hush, Fiona. I won't slap you, but I will have to snap the bone into
place, and taht's going to hurt. YOu'll have to hold still, and be
brave for me."
Ursa dashes to Vidarth, her sudden movement a sharp contrast and a
graverelief after her calm unmoving. Returning with the pack and what
she hopes are the right splints, she sits down to talk to Fiona
quietly.
Fiona's eyes go wider at the word 'snap' though her eyes never leave
his. Her words taper off to a trickle, though she moans, "/Why/
couldn't this have happened when there was that green stuff handy? I'd
never have even felt it."
Kirany pipes up, "C'n I fetch something? Like..." Her eyes trail over
the Weaver, "Green stuff, or something?"
R'val looks Fiona in the eye bluntly, "Do you drink?"
Rullem walks in from the main hall.
Ursa rolls her eyes, "Does she drink? The woman climbs up and down
Spineth, sloshed out of her mind, nightly, then the one night she's
stone cold sober.... this."
Fiona blinks at R'val and even manages to blush, "Uhm.. sortof. Just
recently." She says absently to Kirany, "I don't think they have green
stuff here, hon."
R'val says, "Get her some alcohol then. It'll dullthe pain. Ursa, could
you hold her still for me?"
Ursa turns to Kirany, "Anything you could fetch might help. Brandy?" She
moves hesitantly towards Fiona. "Hold her???"
Kirany nods obediantly to the dragonrider, handing the hatchling off to
Buttons before she pelts off at full speed.
Rullem blinksblinks at all the commotion... "What is going on?"
R'val nods, "Hold her by the shoulder. Fiona, hold onto Ursa, you're
gonna feel this." He smiles at her comfortingly, and slowly slides off
her boot.
Pagel looks over at Rullem, balancing two hatchlings and a jar of
ointment. "Um, Fiona broke her ankle."
Rullem walks over to the apprentice and frowns, "HOw the heck did that
happen, apprentice?"
Fiona Heys!! at R'val, "What about that drink, -first-??" She grabs
Ursa's arm. Hard.
R'val releases the boot and frowns, "Hmm, that hurts? Might be a
compound fracture, then." He calls out, "Booze, and quickly!"
Ursa does as instructed, awkwardly. "Like this?" she squawks.
Pagel visible shrinks. "Um, I don't know. I was in the tent... and...
um.."
R'val nods, "Perfect Ursa. Now wait a moment."
Pagel looks around for any booze, but has none.
Rullem stands back and watches with some curiousity and a lot of
confusion, nodding to Pagel's reply.
Rullem mutters to Pagel, "... did... going... in helping..."
Fiona takes a slow breath, letting it out with a sigh. She tries to peer
past everyone to see if the girlis headed back, yet.
Someone hurries forward, and hands the rider a flask of brandy. R'val
thanks the man, and turns to Fiona, popping the cork, "Drink.
Quickly." he says, simply.
Kirany comes pelting back into view, a bottle in her hand. She skids
around the corner, and comes to a halt near the rider-healer. "Is
this-*puff*-good? I-*puff*-*wheeze*-went as fast as I could."
Pagel mutters to Rullem, "Well, I... helping... pick... some... in...
out to get... thing... ran... we... here."
R'val takes the bottle from Kirany with a smile, "Thank you! This'll do
nicely."
R'val hands that one to Fiona too, and winks, "For your trouble." He
grins, trying to ease her.
Ursa starts chattering at Fiona. "You know what we're gonna do, Fi? When
you can walk, we'll go to that tannerhall and get you a really great
new pair of boots. Journeyman crafted, you know..."
Rullem shakes his head and sighs, "I see."
Fiona takes both flask and bottle, giving everyone a look that dares
comment. She takes a long drink from the flask and ends up coughing.
"Yick. What is that stuff?"
R'val grins at Fiona amiably, "Strong brandy. Try the other, perhaps?"
Pagel carefully hands one little blue hatchling back to Kirany.
Fiona nods, then takes a swig from the bottle as well. She mumbles,
"Terribly unladylike, I know," then takes a deep breath. "Okay, I
guess I'm ready." She grabs Ursa's arm again.
Ursa raises her voice, intoning, "We can get you another purple pair,
and maybe a blue pair, too, a really dark blue, the colour of that
dress you were sewing last sevenday..."
R'val nods," Hold on, Fiona. This /will/ hurt." he gives Fiona's leg a
startlingly fast jerk.
Pagel is having sympathy pains just watching.
Ursa keeps chattering to distract her friend, "And we can go get a brand
new pair of earrings from that dusty... YOUCH!"
Rullem acks and grimaces.
Fiona bites her lip, fingers also biting deep into Ursa's arm. Tears
spring to her eyes, though she nods to Ursa's babbling. "That sounds
*gasp* like a good idea... Owwwww!"
Kirany runs to get Fiona some crutches, now that she has no muscle
tissue left in that limb whatsoever. ;)
R'val gestures hastily to Ursa, 'The booze, ursa, quick!"
R'val nods his satisfaction as he regards Fiona's leg, while touching it
gently, "It's straight now. WE need to splint it." he takes the
splints Ursa brought out for him and some bandages.
Rullem pokes Pagel, "Go help the girl. There should be some in the
storerooms."
Ursa recollects her breath, exerting all her effort not to push Fiona's
hands off her arm. "Yeah..." she mutters hoarsely, grabbing the bottle
for her friend once her arm is finally free. Handing it to her, she
finishes. "We'll get some earrings from that dusty miner. Onyx earrings."
Pagel jumps, rather startled. "Oh, right. Ok."
Pagel walks off into the main hall to the east.
Fiona takes another drink from the bottle, wiping tears from her cheeks.
She says petulantly, "I don't want onyx earring. That vain herder is
the one who likes inyx." With a sigh, she leans back against Spineth's
leg again.
Pagel walks in from the main hall.
Pagel runs in with a pair of batterd old crutches.
Izaih walks in from the main hall.
Rullem nods to Pagel, "Good.." Then he nods to the other apprentice as
he arrives.
Pagel says "Um, will these help?"
Rullem says "Let us just stay back and let him work. If he needs
anything, get it."
R'val smiles at Pagel and nods, "Yes, keep them nearby. She'll need 'em
to walk with after I splin tthe leg.' He puts the two boards on either
side of Fiona's leg, after carefully removing her boot.
Izaih wanders in and wonders what all the fuss is about
Ursa uhms, then resumes her babbling, "Yeah, okay, we'll get you
something real pretty. Not shiney, something smooth, blue, maybe, with
coloured veins, you know."
Fiona nods wearily, taking another drink mostly from habit, "I like
blue. It's a pretty color." She peers at R'val as he works, "Isn't
your dragon blue?"
Rullem mutters to Izaih, "This woman has... leg, apprentice..... man is
tending... it"
R'val smiles t Fiona and nods agreeably, gesturing with his head to the
dragon behind him, 'Yup, that's my big blue, Vidarth."
Izaih mutters to Rullem "..how...something...Happen?"
Rullem mutters to Izaih, "I... wasn't... him..."
Rullem nods over to Pagel.
Pagel, noticing the attention, begins shrinking into himself, seeing if
he can avoid attention by disapearing.
Fiona looks past R'val, smiling just a little as whatever she's been
drinking starts to kick in. "Oh. He's pretty." She winces as her leg
is jarred again, then says shortly to the muttering woodcrafters, "I
fell of the dragon, alright? It can happen." Even if you'd have to be
an idiot to do it.
Izaih nods to Rul then mutters to Pagel, "How....this happen?"
Rullem nods to the woman, "Yes, ma'am."
Pagel mutters to Izaih, "Um, well,... too long... I... see... so I'm
not... sure."
Rullem makes a gesture for he and his fellows to quit whispering.
R'val straightens, "Coudl I have those crutches? Fiona, your leg's been
set. Just stay off it for a few weeks, and see your local healer
regularily.'
Izaih looks to Rul and shushes, wondering if there is anything he could
do to help
Pagel quickly dashes forward, eger to be of help, with the crutches.
Ursa uhms, "R'val?" Then tries again, "Uhm R'val? Can she go between?"
Fiona blinks at R'val in surprise, "That's it?" She looks at the
crutchs, "But, how am I supposed to get home on those?"
R'val takes the crutches, and slips them up to Fiona with a smile, "Try
to stand on this. Yes, Ursa, she can...just have her be real careful
dismounting.' He grins, "You'll have to be moved onto the dragon very
carefully, I'd say.'
Rullem nods approval to Pagel as he moves to be of help and glances back
at the Hall a little and frowns at the other apprentices gawking from
the doors.
Ursa looks up at Spineth's back. "Oh, shells. How'm I gonna get her up
tonight?"
Fiona looks at those wooden sticks with an expression of extreme doubt.
"If you say so." Propping both her bottle and the flask carefully at
once side, she attempts to hand walk her way up one crutch, keeping
the weight off her splinted foot.
Pagel looks up at Spineth nervously. "Um, well, if you need a hand..."
R'val stands nearby, and watches Fiona carefully as she stands.
Kirany suddenly seems to realize there are two very *huge* dragons
nearby, and she shies back behind Pagel.
Rullem hmms and watches, rather nervously.
Fiona reaches an upright position, but then turns to look upward at
Spineth. "Oh my..." Shaking her head, she asks, "Uhm, how?"
Pagel starts at the sudden presence of Kirany behind him.
R'val Hrms, "I have it. One dragon can lift her onto the back of the
other."
Kirany is beginning to look tired too, and she leans heavily on Pagel.
"Buttons... I have'ta find my Da soon..." She keeps a half-lidded,
wary eye on the dragons as she talks.
Fiona gives R'val a rather puzzled look, "Uhm, how?"
Pagel looks around. "Um, I probably better help her find her dad. If you
don't need anything else..."
Rullem looks back to Pagel and then nods, "Go ahead. I'll be here if
there is anything we can do."
R'val smiles, "With his paws, of course, Fiona."
Pagel grins gratefully at Rullem, then takes Kirany's hand. "Come on,
we'd best find your dad. He's probably worried.
Fiona's look turns from puzzled to woried. "Can they do that? I mean, I
thought dragons only picked up their dinners that way."
Pagel walks off into the main hall to the east.
Kirany snorts softly, placing her small hand in Pagel's. "I'd be
surprised if he even noticed I'm gone."
R'val smiles, "Dragons are intelligent, Fiona. If I tell Vidarth to pick
you up carefully and put you Spineth's back, he'll do it, carefully."
Kirany walks off into the main hall to the east.
Fiona gives him a doubtful look and turns to peer at both dragons. She
comes up with another objection. "You sure he can pick me up okay? I
mean, Spineth's bigger and all."
Ursa looks from R'val to Fiona and back. "Then how do ?I get her down at
the Hall?"
R'val Hrms at Ursa, "Darn. That' a problem. I could come with you and
have Vidarth take her off?"
Rullem says "Perhaps if we put her on a litter we could tie her to the
dragon and then lower her down??"
Fiona beams a smile at Ursa, "I knew there was a reason I kept you
around. To remeind us of those obvious things we miss." She looks
rather incredulously at Rullem, "You want to -tie- me to the dragon?"
Rullem umms, "It would make transport easier... you couldn't squirm
around or get hurt."
R'val hrms, "It might help. But she can hold onto the dragon fine once
she's on him. MIght not be able to do that if she's tied in a litter.'
Rullem nods, "Just a thought."
Ursa suddenly curses. "Shards! What happened to my buttons?"
R'val blinks, "Buttons?"
Fiona hophops a little as she bends over to pick up that bottle from
earlier. She raises an eyebrow at the word 'squirm' then nods
apreciatively when the idea is discarded. Taking a drink, she asks
pitifully, "Could we please do something before I fall over? Buttons?
You're worried about buttons?"
Rullem hmms, looking confused. "Buttons? What about them?"
R'val smiles, "Give Ursa your crutches, will you Fiona? I'll have
Vidarth lift you and we can get you home to the Weavercraft."
Ursa grumbles. "Lost my buttons..." She tests Spineth's straps. "Okay.
Then lets just get her up there, K?"
Rullem shrugs and mumbles something to himself as he steps back,
watching the party go.
Vidarth trundles up behind Fiona, and lowers his head to the ground,
watching her carefully. one paw snakes out near her.
Fiona smiles gratefully at R'val, then hand Ursa the crutches, plus the
bottle after one final swig. She gives that paw a worried look, then
smiles up at Vidarth, "Uhm, hullo there. Did I mention yet that i
really like blue?"
Vidarth croooooons agreeably down at Fiona and whuffles her
affectionately.
Spineth(#8674Oaepq$)
Spineth> Ursa has arrived.
Ursa scrambles up, balancing the crutches, ready to help.
--> Rullem watches with some amazement...
--> Fiona almost looses her balance from the wuffle and asks R'val,
"That was just a good thing, right?"
--> R'val grins, "Yes. IT means he likes you."
--> R'val regards his dragon, and his gaze unfocuses. Vidarth rumbles
uunderstandingly, and reaches with his paw, engulfing Fiona very
carefully.
--> Fiona takes a deep breath. "Well then. Shall we?" She raises her
arms to elt the dragon get a good grip on her.
Ursa watches, looking rather impressed.
--> Vidarth lifts Fiona /carefully/ and moves his paw towards Spineth.
Spineth> Vidarth senses that Spineth rumbles dryly, <>
Dragon> Spineth senses that Vidarth rumbles agreeably. << No wonder they
need us! >>
--> Fiona grips the talon in front of her rather tightly, looking as if
she wishes she'd drunk more than just -one- bottle of wine.
Ursa reaches out to help settle Fiona between neck ridges soon as she
arrives.
--> Rullem watches with interest.
--> Vidarth lowers Fiona very carefully right next to Ursa, nearly
sitting on Spineth as he gets so close tot he much larger brown.
Fiona scrambles up to join you on Spineth's back.
--> R'val calls up, "Fiona, are you ok?"
Ursa guides Fiona into place with a lot of chattering, "There, no, to
the right, no, this s way, here, now, put her down.. yeah..."
Fiona gives a small shiver, then nods. "As Okay as I can be with a
broken leg and I belley full of wine, yeah." She giggles a little at
Ursa's direction. "Am I on right?"
--> R'val uses Vidarth's side straps to mount up agilely, settling onto
the little blue's back and straightening, petting his head once as
Vidarth thrums excitedly, ready to fly.
--> From Vidarth's back, R'val calls out, "Ok, we'd best take you home
then."
--> Rullem casts one final look at the bunch and then heads in, waving
the other crafters off to their duties as he goes.
--> Rullem walks off into the main hall to the east.
Ursa grins, making an overlarge fuss about strapping Fiona in for her.
"There. You should be safe now." Then, "Ready?"
Ursa calls down to any woodcrafters still there, "Thanks fo ryour
help!!!!"
Fiona gives her a big grin, seemingly very happy now that she's settled,
"Oh yes. Let's go."
You rise into the sky.
Sky above WoodCraftHall
The winds sweep strongly here, high above the forests of Lemos, bearing
with them the pungent scent of conifers. The main hall of the
Woodcraft takes pride of place within that velvety green expanse:
directly below is the courtyard, while to the south is the lumber yard
and to the east and north are the main grounds. Small
dots bustle about the Hall, humans going about their daily chores.
To the east lies the bulk of Lemos Hold.
Obvious exits:

--> Vidarth ascends from the courtyard below.
--> Spineth disappears into Between.
Between
You gasp as the icy black nothingness of Between surrounds you! You hear
nothing, see nothing, and feel nothing. The trip takes five
heartbeats...
Black...
Blacker...
Blackest!
You suddenly emerge...
Sky Above The Weavercrafthall
Soft tropical breezes swirl in thermal patterns above the WeaverCraft
Hall making it easy to float above the colourful panorama below. That
same current plays with the lush tropical trees of the rainforest just
beyond the Hall. Directly below you lies the inner courtyard: a
colourful patchwork of green and other vivid colours
lined by tall palms that sway in the breeze. In the centre, you can
just make out a hedge formed in the shape of a spindle. Light reflects
off the water in the white fountain placed at the centre of the hedge
and gleams on the pure white slate of the WeaverCraft Hall building
that surrounds the courtyard on all four sides. To the north lie the
great doors of the main entrance to the Hall and in the distance,
Southern Boll Hold. Brown pathways lead from the entrance cutting
through fields of cotton and beyond to the verdant green of the forest.

--> Spineth emerges from Between with a blast of cold air!
You land in the inner courtyard.
Inner Courtyard of the WeaverCraftHall(#1085RJ)
A gentle tropical breeze blows through here, gently shaking the leaves
of the palm trees that line the edges of the courtyard. Smaller trees
are scattered throughout and provide shade for the weavers who come
here to do embroidery or sew. Small patches of lush green grass are
interspersed with tiny flowers that grow profusely in a brillant array
of colours: red, blue, violet, yellow and many shades in between. They
form a random pattern like a crazy quilt. In contrast, the hedge at the
centre of the court yard has been pruned and molded into a spindle
shape. A white marble fountain lies in the exact centre and the sound of
tinkling water drifts gently through the air.
Beyond the palm trees stretch the inner walls where various archways
lead inside the Hall.

--> In the sky above, Vidarth plummets down to land in the inner
courtyard.
--> Vidarth plummets down from the sky above, flaring out his wings to
stop before crashing into the ground.
--> R'val slides down from Vidarth's back and lands in a crouch.
Fiona sways a little as they descend, holding tight to Ursa's belt in
front of her.
Ursa eyes Fiona carefully, as though she might have shattered between.
"You okay?"
--> R'val hollers, "Ok, Ursa, get off Spineth and I'll have Vidarth take
Fiona down."
Fiona nods to Ursa a little dizzily, "Just peachy."
Inner Courtyard of the WeaverCraftHall(#1085RJ)
Vidarth moves carefully behind Spineth, and picks Fiona up in one claw.
Ursa calls up, "Am I gonna hafta apologize to your CraftMaster or
something?"
Atop Spineth, Fiona eeps as she is snagged. "I don't think so. S'hardly
-your- fault I'm an idiot."
Vidarth lets Fiona go and sits back down ont he floor, whirling his eyes
as he watches.
Fiona does that hophop thing again as she is set down. Giving Vidarth a
winning smile she says, "You're truely a dear."
Ursa supplies the crutches, quickly.
