Precursors

A View of an Ancient Alien Obelisk (front) and Junos (back) on Orkan

The precursors are a ancient civilizations that existed millions of years ago.  They had advanced technology and some of it has lasted the test of time until today.  There are actually two races of precursors and it appears as if each one occupied a single planet in the Dillon system.  The Stoneburners and the Glassmakers appeared to be at war with one another and both had their own advantages and disadvantages in regards to their technology.  The Stoneburners primarily occupied Ganoir and the Glassmakers primarily occupied Orkan.  Many battles must have been fought on Valance and some tech has been found there.

The Glassmakers' physical characteristics are still unknown today.  They had a technology based on silicon rather than  metallurgy, and are called the Glassmakers because their technology resembles glass in appearance.  They once lived upon Orkan a long, long time ago.  Many of their structures still stand today untouched for millennia.  The "glass" structures may hold many treasures and advanced technology for those brave enough to enter, for the structures are often protected.  Arachnons and Orbweavers are a common "creature" to encounter at the Glassmaker sites (see Alien Compendium Pgs. 71-76).

The Oraka'an hold the ancient sites of the Glassmakers with reverence and rarely disturb them.  They occasionally have Glassmaker artifacts and may even know how to use a few of them.  Surprisingly, the Oraka'an have learned quite a bit about the Glassmakers and how to use their technology.

The Stoneburners must have originated on a planet where fire was an impossibility.  Because of this there technology is based upon genetics, organization and transmission of matter, and dimensional travel.  They are called stoneburners for much of their technology was built of such.  They were bulky cephalopods that lived in wet environments and breathed chlorine rather than oxygen.  Just as with the Glassmakers, the Stonebuner sites hold many treasures, but are guarded by creatures like Dimensional Horrors (see Alien Compendium Pgs. 110-111).

The Demu fear and respect the stoneburners, for all the horrors they have created.  All but the bravest, or foolhardy, will avoid the ancient sites on Ganoir.  For those who do survive the trip great treasures await.  The Demu posses many powerful artifacts of the Stoneburners.

Soon to come, Alien Artifacts and more on the Precursors...
