Utah Poverty Reduction Campaign
ways to combat poverty as part of our ten-year plan:
1. help stretch the grocery budget of Utah families by eliminating the sales tax on food
2. generate state support for low-income housing
3. explore healthcare reform's impact on low-income people
4. expand the food stamps program and repeal time limits for ABAWDs (able-bodied adults without dependents) who use food stampsAlmost 110,000 Utahns live in extreme poverty, meaning they earn less than 50% of the federal poverty level. During the past year, close to 135,000 Utahns will suffer from hunger. It's time we work on concrete steps to help our brothers and sisters in need. Our goal is to cut hunger and extreme poverty in half in Utah.
