Proving the Impossible
This one, I have to admit, stumped me. Of course, I had worked myself into a corner with it, not getting beyond the thought of using the old U.F. Grant idea (a la Burger) and make the transposition a transformation. I hate it when that happens, that tunnel vision. Luckily, others didn't have that self-imposed millstone around their necks. The solutions for this one included some neat gimmickry, with everything from windowed bills to an alteration of the Grant idea to ye olde carbon paper. John Shackelford's solution struck me. First, because it works and works well. Second, because it's a gimmick that doesn't need replacing for a good, long time (assuming it doesn't end up in a washing machine or a vending machine). Third, it can be used with a wide variety of currency with a little thought and a little playing around. Those three factors in John's method really won me over. So this time around,
