Proving the Impossible

Legend SOLVED!

A card to an impossible location... but with the twist of having the impossible location a quite visible object held by a spectator. That's essentially what this challenge boils down to. As such, we have jillions of methods for making a card disappear from a deck and reappear somewhere else. The problem, as Tyler Wilson points out, is not letting the spectator know exactly what she's holding, and finding a solution to that problem is what made this challenge so interesting. Kennedy used a bit of funny by-play and a quick one-liner; Tyler used an additional prop to cover things; Alex Hui used cloth bags as a control and to help things along... check out all the solutions and you'll see what I mean about this being "interesting", to say the least.

When it was all said and done, Kirk Edwards' solution really got me. He uses a gaff to allow the appearance of the signed card to be quite an apparent thing (when it really isn't) and smoothes things over with the "load" (such as it is in Kirk's version) by downplaying it and combining it with a bit that removes some of the problem with the card/ring being held (it's something I never thought of, and quite simple). All in all, it was a really, really close call, but this time around, Kirk Edwards' solution does the job admirably.
