AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME

Stars: Mike Myers, Heather Graham, Michael York, Rob Lowe, Robert Wagner, Verne Troyer, Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Hurley. Written by Mike Myers & Michael McCullers. Directed by M. Jay Roach. Rated PG-13 for sexual innuendo and crude humor.

When Austin Powers’ (Mike Myers) arch-nemesis Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) goes back in time to the 1960’s and steals Austin's "mojo", the superspy is compelled to use his own time machine to go back and retrieve it. Teaming up with beautiful American spy Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham), Austin sets about finding Dr. Evil's volcanic lair. Not content to merely possess Austin's fabled "mojo", Dr. Evil hatches a plan to extort billions from the American government by threatening a moon-based laser pointed at the nation's capitol. With the aid of his pint-sized clone Mini-Me (Verne Troyer), the sinister genius very nearly does just that before Austin arrives to throw a well-timed monkey wrench into the works.

"Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" is a quirky, silly comedy, very much like its surprise-hit predecessor. Anyone who didn't find Mike Myers original riff on groovy, libidinous British spies to be their cup of tea won't find any reason to expect this new film to have any appeal for them. Indeed, the sequel is really nothing than more of the same, which should come as great news to those who enjoyed the original. Both sillier and funnier than its precursor, "The Spy Who Shagged Me" is a light-hearted romp, all the more fun for its lack of depth.
