Rish Outfield's reviews
This was the first of the "Silent Night, Deadly Night" series reviewed for our site. I read a thing or two about them (not in a book, don't overestimate me), and heard that it was okay to watch them out of order, so when I found a ninety-nine cent copy of Silent Night, Deadly Night III, I picked it up and watched it right away. Well, aside from such a long title, I didn't know what to expect, and was somewhat pleasantly surprised.
So, the killer from the last film, who I guess is obsessed with Christmas and murder (but not in a good way) is in a coma. There's a blind babe, who's apathetic and negative to everyone except her brother, who is psychically able to make contact with the psychopath in her dreams. One day (guess which one), he comes out of his coma and goes after her. He kills a couple people, we get some character development, and then he kills a couple more. A psychiatrist, played by Twin Peaks' Leland Palmer (Richard Beymer) is trying to track him down, but a cop, played by Robert Culp is also trying to track the killer down (to destroy him, not to study, not to bring back, but to totally wipe him out). Although the blind babe knows things she could never possibly know, she remains in the dark (so to speak) about the killer's location.
This started with a silly dream sequence, but it got better after that. It was slow-moving, but never boring. Its very lovely star, Samantha Scully, looks, picture this if you will, like a cross between Jennifer Connelly and Lara Flynn Boyle. Yeah. It's not such a bad story, really, either. If only the killer weren't so stupid-looking (oddly, nobody notices he's got a goldfish bowl with a brain in it on his head). Okay, I'll level with you--I liked this movie. The truth isn't always pretty, I know.
I'd Recommend It To: I dare you to see it.
