Dates we were there:    7/18/99     7/21/99 

    We made a short visit to Iowa to visit a friend and then drove across this beautiful farming state on our way from Nauvoo, Illinois to Omaha, Nebraska.  Afterwards, we wished we had driven through Ottumwa, hometown of M*A*S*H's Radar O'Reily, just to say that we did.   It wouldn't have been much of a detour.  Oh well...

Cities & Places we visited

    LONG GROVE
    We left Chicago early Sunday afternoon and drove through some beautiful country, arriving in Long Grove in the early evening.  We were there to visit one of Brian's childhood friends, Steve Knorrek.  We had a very pleasant time visiting with him, his wife Becky and their children.  It was good to renew an on friendship and talk about 'the good ol' days.   They own a good piece of property with 3 horses, 7 cats, 4 kittens and a dog.  They were kind enough to give us some munchies.  We wished we were able to stay for dinner, as we were invited, but we needed to get back on the road to Nauvoo.
