 Cities & Places we visited

    JERSEY CITY
We arrived in Jersey City on the evening of the 10th and went right to Liberty Harbor to visit the Statue of Liberty (Jordan's number one thing he wanted to do) but we just missed the last ferry by about 20 minutes.  Once again, a setback.  What to do now.  We wanted to get to Ron & Jean's by that night.  We decided that this was an important part of our trip (especially to Jordan) so we decided to stay the night at Liberty Harbor RV Park where we had originally planned to stay before we changed our plans because of the delays in St. Louis.  It was kind of a dump but much cheaper than a hotel in this area.
After we got registered, we decided to drive into Manhattan.  What an experience that was!
When we returned from Manhattan, we ate and then settled in for an interesting night.  We weren't up to setting up the tent so we all slept in the car!  It was a squeeze, but we did it.
The next morning, we hurried and drove back over to catch the first ferry to the Statue of Liberty.  We stood in line and climbed all 300+ steps to the crown.  It was a great experience for all of us but Jordan was in heaven!  We were glad we did it!
After spending some time in the gift shop, we caught the ferry back continued on our way to Massachusetts.
Not so simple.  Dad decided to try and take a route other than the Holland tunnel and its high priced toll.  When we finally reached the Lincoln Bridge to cross over into Manhattan, it was one way - OUT!   Foiled again!  We had an interesting drive through Jersey City and Hoboken.  When we finally reached the Washington Bridge, it's toll was the same as the Holland tunnel!  So the extra drive only proved to be added memories and bigger delays!  But we were finally on our way to Ron's.
