    Maryland was a welcome sight!  It was the end of our marathon drive from St. Louis, Missouri.  We drove into Gaithersburg early in the morning.  All of our time in Maryland was spent there and in visiting the temple in Kensington.  We left late in the morning of the 10th, driving through Delaware and on to New Jersey and New York.

Cities & Places we visited

    GAITHERSBURG
    We arrived at Allison & Shane's in Gaithersburg early in the morning of the 9th at the end of our marathon drive.  After unpacking, we had some much needed rest (after driving all night).   We then took the car to get the broken window fixed (see St. Louis) and then boarded the subway for a day of sightseeing in Washington D.C.
    We returned to Allison & Shane's for a wonderful dinner and some enjoyable time with family and then headed out again for Washington D.C., this time with Allison & Shane and family to visit some of the outlying sites.  We returned late in the evening and had a much needed good night's sleep!
    We left the morning of the 10th, headed for the Washington D.C. Temple and beyond. 

    KENSINGTON
    Our purpose for visiting Kensington was to visit the Washington D.C. Temple.  We first went there with Allison & Shane on the evening of the 9th but it was night and the gates were closed.  We went again on the morning of the 10th.   What a beautiful place!  We were amazed at the thick trees that surrounded the temple and the peace and quiet they created.  The freeway was just beyond them but you couldn't tell.  We had the place to ourselves since the temple was closed.   It was a great end to a hectic couple of days.
