Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau

Photo by Freddy, The three summits seen from Beatenberg

This extremely famous group of mountains is considered one of the great natural wonders of the world. They stand out from far away and make a great mountaineering experience.

Rated D to PD or SZ to S (to compare difficulty ratings please see the menu bar "Choosing a Climb")

Every one of the three mountains has its own climbing characteristics. The Eiger is a sharp ridge with lots of exposure, the Mönch a moderate climb in snow and rock, and the Jungfrau a classic glacier climb.

For the individual mountain character please look under each description of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

4-day Ascent

Day 1: Meet in Grindelwald and take the train up to the Jungfraujoch. Climb the Mönch and sleep in the Moenchsjoch hut.

Day 2: Climb the Jungfrau and descend by train to Grindelwald and spend one night in Grindelwald.

Day 3: The morning is off to relax, in the afternoon we climb up to the Mittellegi Hut.

Day 4: Climb the Mittellegi ridge to the top of the Eiger. Descend to Grindelwald.

The order of the climbs can be changed and adapted to the current weather and climbing conditions. In other words, we would change the order of the climbs if we felt there was a better chance to summit one of the other booked mountains.
